What's in the platform

Networking and certificates

Traffic reaches applications through the platform's ingress controllers. TLS certificates are issued and renewed automatically, and DNS records follow the cluster's hostnames without manual changes.

Traefik

Project: Traefik Proxy · License: MIT License

Traefik is the platform's ingress controller. It routes traffic from the cluster's load balancers to applications and serves the platform's own web interfaces, with separate instances for platform, public and optional internal traffic.

A request goes from the visitor through the cluster's DNS records, the load balancer and Traefik to the application. cert-manager issues and renews Traefik's certificates. GlueOps operates everything before the application.

Ingress NGINX

Project: Ingress NGINX Controller · License: Apache License 2.0

The upstream Ingress NGINX project was retired in March 2026 and no longer receives fixes. GlueOps supports it in the meantime and helps customers migrate to Traefik. Upstream announcement.

Ingress NGINX routes public traffic to applications that use the platform's original public ingress class.

cert-manager

Project: cert-manager · License: Apache License 2.0

cert-manager requests TLS certificates from Let's Encrypt for application hostnames and renews them before they expire. Certificates are stored as Kubernetes Secrets that the ingress controllers use.

ExternalDNS

Project: ExternalDNS · License: Apache License 2.0

ExternalDNS creates and updates DNS records for the hostnames on the cluster's ingress routes and services, so DNS records are managed automatically as applications change.

Calico

Project: Calico Open Source · License: Apache License 2.0

Calico provides the network between pods and enforces Kubernetes network policies, so traffic between workloads can be limited to what each one needs.

GlueOps's own code is released under the Apache License 2.0. Each upstream project keeps its own license, shown in its section. Project names and logos belong to their owners and are shown only to identify each project. Their use does not mean that any project endorses GlueOps.
